The purpose for connecting spreadsheets to Dashboard?

I noticed the feature to connect sheets to a Dashboard (upper left). The connected sheets do not work as links to access the sheets from the Dashboard? I can connect them | disconnect them, but can not access them via the Dashboard. Is this a bug? If not, what’s the purpose for the connecting sheets?

Correct, connecting sheets to a Dashboard gives you the ability to embed Views, Numbers, and create Charts/other widgets in the Dashboard from the data in those connected sheets.
