Might it be possible to run a filter view using the results of a Column Formula? That is, filter to only show rows with a $0 value?

Yes we also see the need for this and do plan to add the ability to define filters on Column Formulas.

You can now define IS value filter with value 0 against Column Formula.
As Matt stated above, there are more revisions planned around Column Formula filter behavior, we will keep you posted.
